Cable Pack Protectors -Robotic Assembly, Paint and Welding
THERMAL CONTROL PRODUCTS, A U.S. BASED COMPANY, MANUFACTURES “CABLE PACK” PROTECTORS FOR SOME OF THE LARGEST ASSEMBLY PLANTS IN THE WORLD.
The Cable Pack Protector was designed and created as a custom solution for one of our customers who were experiencing excessive downtime, due to cable pack failures. A Robotic Cable Pack can consist of power cables, air lines, water lines and grounding cables.
The cable packs are typically protected by a corrugated conduit, which is an extruded plastic. The corrugated plastic conduit fails under heavy mechanical abrasion and/or friction. In addition, failures are also attributed to exposure and “build up” of heavy molten slag. Once the internal contents of the cable pack are exposed to normal operational assembly environments, breakdowns will occur, creating unscheduled maintenance and possible shut down, to an assembly line.
On average, a production line shut down for a cable pack failure and associated “lock out” and replacement can take maintenance personnel up to 45 minutes. Utilizing a Cable Pack Protector from Thermal Control Products, maintenance operator can repair a broken cable pack conduit within a few minutes, and confidently be back up and operational, thus greatly reducing unscheduled maintenance time. The Cable Pack Protector serves as a permanent repair to a cable pack until a “scheduled maintenance” occurs to repair and replace the damaged O.E.M. Cable Pack.
The Cable Pack Protector has demonstrated the ability to excel in several types of production environments; consistently demonstrating ease of assembly and superior performance.
Cable Pack Protectors are available in various diameters and produced from mechanically superior woven and extruded materials. Our Cable Pack Protectors are available in 50’ roll lengths or custom specified lengths. Closure mechanisms for the Protectors are dependent upon assembly environment. They include heavy duty Velcro, stainless steel snaps and/or optional “built in” tie straps.
